South Korea Visa Guide (Types, Requirements & How to Apply)

Anyone visiting the Republic of Korea must have a visa corresponding to the purpose of their visit, whether for work, tourism, studies, etc. The visa is affixed to a page in your passport. Even with a visa, your entry into Korea may be refused.

1️⃣ Types of visas based on residency status:

  • Diplomacy (A-1), Public function (A-2), International agreement (A-3), Temporary work (C-4)
  • University professor (E-1), Language instruction (E-2), Research (E-3), Technical instruction (E-4)
  • Specialized work (E-5), Art and performance (E-6), Special activity (E-7), Non-specialized profession (E-9)
  • Sailor (E-10), Working holiday (H-1), Visiting and working (H-2)
  • Media coverage (C-1), Short-term visit (C-3), General internship (D-4), Technical training (D-3), and more.

2️⃣ Visa application process:

  • Application / Issuing locations:
    Embassy or consulate of the Republic of Korea.
    In some cases, the Regional Immigration Office or its branch can issue a visa approval certificate.

  • Documents to submit:
    Passport, visa application form, and other documents depending on visa type. (See more on www.hikorea.go.kr)
  • Visa fees:
    Between 40 and 90 dollars, depending on the length of stay.
