Moving in Korea Guide (Costs, Services & What to Expect)

Before moving out, make sure to inspect your rental and take photos if needed. You have several moving options, from renting a call-van to choosing a full-service moving company.

1️⃣ Precautions to Take

Before moving out, make sure to thoroughly inspect the condition of the property and take pictures if there are any damages. If you wish to paint or repair anything, you must get the landlord’s approval. Make sure to settle all your utility bills (electricity, water, gas) before handing over the keys and get your deposit or key money back once the inspection is done.

Hotline numbers for utilities:

  • Gas: 1588-5788
  • Water: 120
  • Electricity: 123

2️⃣ Moving Methods

  1. Call-van rental with driver:
A budget-friendly option if you don’t have many belongings. The driver handles the vehicle, but you must pack, load, and unload yourself.
  2. Classic moving service:
You pack your belongings, and the company provides a vehicle and driver. You can also request assistance for transporting your items. The cost varies depending on the volume of items and level of service chosen.
  3. Full-service moving with packing:
A full-service moving company takes care of packing, transporting, and unpacking at your new place. They carefully wrap your belongings, protect your furniture and appliances, and handle everything. The price depends on the number of items and the level of service.

Don’t leave without collecting your deposit and settling your utility bills!
